Whiplash Treatment in Hamilton

Patient arm outstretchedWhiplash is a neck injury that’s due to a forceful and rapid back and forth movement of the neck. It typically occurs during a rear-end auto accident. However, some people experience whiplash as a result of a fall, water skiing or snow sports accidents to name a few.

Symptoms of whiplash may include neck pain, headaches, tingling in the arms, and dizziness.

‘But It Was Just a Minor Accident’

After a driving incident, even if it is seemingly minor and there is no obvious neck pain, it is recommended to get your neck, chest, ribs, spine and collarbones assessed for any structural shift, as it is straightforward to remedy. If left unchecked, whiplash can cause pain and issues years down the track. However, we still can provide assistance to those who sustained whiplash years ago.

Our Approach to Care

We integrate modern instrument-based adjusting techniques and manual adjusting techniques for our clients who experience whiplash. This approach allows us to modify our technique for people who are very sore or nervous about receiving chiropractic care. We incorporate myofascial and muscular release work alongside our adjustments to get an integrated approach to healing the body.

At Aspire Chiropractic Hamilton, we have two chiropractors who alongside spinal adjusting, specialize in whiplash treatment.

Time is of the essence as the longer you wait the more unseen damage there is and the longer it may take to fully recover.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to recover?

It’s important to remember that because each person’s body is different, healing time will vary from patient to patient. To completely heal from a whiplash injury, it could take several weeks or even months even with frequent chiropractic care.

Why do minor collisions cause significant trauma to the spine?

In a more forceful auto accident, the vehicle absorbs much of the energy. In those more common fender benders the energy is more directly transferred to the driver and passengers.

Can I prevent a whiplash injury?

There’s no way to completely prevent whiplash. However, because auto accidents are the primary cause of whiplash injuries, having defensive driving skills is valuable.
